The Galatasaray midfielder was reportedly attacked in Istanbul by a man obsessed with his wife. Torreira believed the man was approaching him for a photo… before suddenly being punched in the face. But the strangest part came during the attacker’s statement to authorities, where he openly admitted his obsession with Torreira’s wife.

"I had platonic feelings for her, but she was upset with me, so she had previously obtained a restraining order against me. However, when I saw some photos on Instagram of her with Lucas Torreira, I started feeling hatred toward him. Yesterday, upon learning through Instagram that Torreira and his family were at the Rixos Hotel, in a moment of impulsive anger, I took a commercial taxi to the place, and as soon as I saw him, I punched him in the face."
