Vipers Frustrated as Police FC Hold Them to a Stalemate
Vipers SC’s title charge hit a minor bump on Tuesday afternoon as they were held to a goalless draw by Police FC in a tightly contested Uganda Premier League (UPL) encounter at the Police Arena, Kira Road, Kamwokya. The result leaves the defending champions still perched atop the league table with 61 points, while Police maintained seventh position with 45 after 28 matches.
The clash, which kicked off at 4:00 p.m. local time, was characterized by tactical discipline and defensive solidity from both sides. Police FC, stung by their heavy 4–1 defeat to the same opposition in the first round, entered the fixture determined to make a statement. Their plan worked to perfection as they successfully contained Vipers’ potent attack throughout the 90 minutes.
Vipers, who came into the match after salvaging a draw against URA, looked eager to bounce back but were met with organized resistance from the “Cops.” Despite creating several half-chances, the visitors could not find a way past a resolute Police backline marshaled by an inspired goalkeeper.
Before the match, Police assistant coach Ahmed Olima had expressed confidence that his side had “the tactical solutions” to stop the log leaders and his men delivered just that. Police pressed intelligently, closed down spaces quickly, and frustrated Vipers’ playmakers.
For Vipers, this draw puts a slight pause on their quest for a comfortable title finish, although they remain firmly in control of the championship race. Head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi will now look to sharpen his side’s attack ahead of their next fixture as they aim to rediscover the winning touch.
For Police FC, the result was more than just a point it was a statement of intent. Having shown resilience against the top side in the country, they reinforced their credentials as a team capable of challenging for a top-five finish in the 2025/26 UPL season.
