Amama Mbabazi Expresses Joy Over Wife’s Election to Parliament, Promises to Support Her Work

Former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi has expressed deep joy following his wife’s election to Parliament, saying her victory represents not only a personal milestone but a gain for the nation.

Speaking with evident pride, Amama Mbabazi said his happiness stems from the confidence that his wife will bring a strong and effective voice to national discussions, particularly those concerning the elderly and broader social issues.

“I am, as you can see, I am extremely happy, happy not because she is my wife, but because I know that Parliament has an effective voice for the next five years, not only for the older persons, but for all national issues. And I am happy because now I have a job. I will be acting as her consultant, as her assistant, and I will pool all the experiences we’ve had all this time. I am sure there will be a difference in Parliament,” Amama said.

He added that he intends to provide his wife with moral and professional support, drawing on decades of political and administrative experience. Mbabazi, one of Uganda’s veteran politicians and former head of government business, said he is confident her presence will enhance constructive debate and thoughtful decision-making in the House.

Observers have described his remarks as both affectionate and symbolic, reflecting unity and shared purpose within one of Uganda’s most recognizable political families.
