Newly elected Elderly Representative Jacqueline Amama Mbabazi has vowed to take a firm stand against corruption and to promote integrity in government institutions, emphasizing that dishonesty within the system has deprived citizens of essential social services.
“Corruption has denied us from access to social services like medicine in hospitals, education services in schools. I am ready to fight corruption,” Jacqueline declared, noting that eradicating graft was key to improving service delivery across the country.
She also defended the relevance of Elderly representatives in Parliament, stressing that their experience and wisdom bring valuable guidance to younger legislators. “The Elderly representatives are relevant because it is us the elderly with wisdom and thus, we shall counsel the younger MPs that have come in order to effectively carry out our duties in Parliament,” she said.
Jacqueline Mbabazi underscored that mentorship and moral leadership would be central to her approach, arguing that a Parliament enriched by wisdom and discipline can deliver better outcomes for Ugandans. Her remarks highlight a dual commitment to uphold accountability and to foster intergenerational collaboration within the House.
